Hottest day of the year but we managed to get two coats of primer on the deck. Finally ready for some real paint. When the paint dries the winches, cleats, and deck wood can be replaced and the deck can be sealed up again. I know its just primer but she looks great brightened up a bit.
After a bath all the deck hardware was removed and Mindy and I were able to give her a solvent rub down and get a coat of primer on the deck. The contrast shows how aged the old gel coat was.
After a thorough sanding, teak oil, and two many coats of varnish (have to thank mike for the help with that). The toe rail finally comes back to life. It turned out a bit darker than anticipated but it looks great. I used Interlux Schooner Classic varnish. The gloss is very deep and it built up quickly. I am very happy with the results.
This is the cockpit as I found it. The teak veneer on the gangway door is cracked and peeling, the laminated tiller is weathered where the varnish has worn thin, the compass globe has glazed over due to UV damage, and the gel coat is dull and yellowed. That's the bad news. The good news is there is plenty of work to do and I can't wait to get my hands dirty.

This is Mindy with our new purchase when we bought her in February. I don't Know too much of the boat's history except that she has had two previous owners. The name on the hull is SEASCAPE and I know she spent much of her early life at the Commodore Perry Yacht Club on Lake Erie.
