After a thorough sanding, teak oil, and two many coats of varnish (have to thank mike for the help with that). The toe rail finally comes back to life. It turned out a bit darker than anticipated but it looks great. I used Interlux Schooner Classic varnish. The gloss is very deep and it built up quickly. I am very happy with the results.
